Testing on hamsters suggests "significant progress" in potential coronavirus vaccine

The Israeli Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) has published a non-peer-reviewed paper on the website bioRxiv. Researchers have reported "significant progress" in their efforts to develop a potential coronavirus vaccine.

Testing on hamsters suggested that “single-dose vaccination was able to protect hamsters against SARS-CoV-2 challenge.” According to the report, infected hamsters’ lungs demonstrated extensive tissue damage and a high viral load, while “immunized hamsters’ lungs showed only minor lung pathology, and no viral load.” (20.06.20)
